Bishop Kenneth W. Carter - Presiding Prelate
An "Essential Church": Poised for 21st Century Ministry
Annual Conference
The Sixth District Annual Conferences are part of The Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. With more than 500,000 members worldwide, The Christian Methodist Episcopal Church is governed by a General Conference that meets every four years. The annual conferences elect delegates to the General Conference.
Our episcopal leader, Bishop Kenneth W. Carter, is the presiding officer of the Annual Conference. The Sixth Episcopal District is divided into 4 regional conferences, and 9 regional districts. Each district is administered by a Presiding Elder in consultation with the Bishop. The Conferences meet annually, usually in June/July, for their regular business session. An number of clergy members and lay members from the conference meet together to worship, celebrate the previous year’s ministries, and set a course for the coming year. At the conclusion of each conference, the Bishop announces the pastoral appointments, or assignments.
